Proven experience as a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer within an FMCG or manufacturing environmentStrong electrical and mechanical engineering capability on production machineryExperience with PLC fault finding and process control systemsAbility to understand and support electrical control systems from switchgear through to implementationStrong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with a proactive approachExperience in executing preventative maintenance strategiesKnowledge of HACCP, COSHH, and GMP standards within food manufacturingStrong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teamsExperience with CMMS systems and maintenance trackingDriven to deliver continuous improvement and engineering best practice

 

Essential Qualifications

Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualificationBTEC / ONC / HNC / HND in Electrical or Mechanical EngineeringIdeally 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

 

Desirable Experience

Job Title: Mechanical Fitter (Contract - Outside IR35)

Contract Duration: 4 Months

Rate: £25-£27 per hour (Outside IR35)

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Mechanical fitter to join our team on a 4-month contract basis. This role is outside IR35, making it well suited to experienced contractors operating via a limited company.

This position is mechanically biased, with a strong focus on maintaining, repairing, and optimising mechanical systems, particularly valves and associated equipment, while still supporting electrical fault-finding where required.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across site equipment and machinery.Diagnose and repair faults with a mechanical bias, including valves, pipework, and mechanical assemblies.Support electrical fault finding on control systems, motors, and associated equipment.Respond quickly to breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.Strip down, repair, and rebuild mechanical components including valves and associated systems.Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.Assist with installation, commissioning, and upgrades of plant equipment.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.Work collaboratively with site teams to optimise performance and reliability.

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience as a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.Strong mechanical engineering background with hands-on experience working with valves, pumps, and mechanical repairs.Basic to intermediate electrical fault-finding capability.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.Experience working in maintenance environments with a focus on reliability and uptime.Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

Essential Certifications

IPAF (Powered Access Licence)Confined Space Certification

Desirable Experience

Experience in process, industrial, or heavy engineering environments.Familiarity with CMMS systems.Background in continuous improvement or reliability engineering.
