A multi-site Global manufacturing company– with a state-of-the-art site in the  area investing in its assets, people and technology. Due to ongoing automation processes and internal promotion, we have a key requirement for an electrical PLC automation engineer on days with an interest in plc development and support controls engineering.

This will suit an automation engineer that has out-developed a shift automation first line role and is ready to take a lead days role for a factory, or an established controls and automation engineer. You will be responsible for supporting the maintenance / electrical asset care strategy and technical challenges to ensure maximum line efficiency, leading from the front within a proactive electrical reliability team ensuring the efficient running of FMCG process and manufacturing lines.

Key Responsibilities – Days Electrical Controls & Automation Engineer

  • Ability to provide high level engineering technical expertise to maximise the productivity and achievement of targets of the plant, in a high-speed production environment
  • Provide breakdown support in the event of equipment failure assisting and enabling the site to maintain world class production standards
  • Ensure the plant are operating at the agreed efficiency levels optimising automation as required to achieve this task. Work to improve the reliability and effectiveness of all plant and equipment and that all software and automation is optimised.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on all matters relating to electrical standards for maintenance improvement
  • Modification, programming and installation of control systems on automated machinery.- Work to constantly improve efficiency of production machinery.
  • Responsible for managing improvements in electrical maintenance strategy, co-ordinaing all electrical asset care improvement programmes
  • Ownership of the site Obsolescence and Improvements Plan focusing on the next level of controls
  • Reactive support for site automation issues within a clear escalation
  • Ownership of automation Capex projects
  • Ownership of the site level Obsolescence and Improvements Plan
  • Ownership of site panel risk assessment register
  • Optimise automated warehouse performance by ensuring the machines hardware and software is performing
  • Ensure all sites have the required software programs, licenses and connection
  • Coordinate with OEM suppliers to ensure any technical notifications or upgrades
  • Provide specialisit software / automation trouble shooting support

Qualifications & Requirements – Days Electrical Controls & Automation Engineer

  • Apprentice trained or graduate engineer in an electrical discipline and has some form of electrical qualification
  • The emphasis is on Automation experience and the candidate should be electrically biased and have plc skills
  • Allen Bradley, Siemens or Mitsubishi will be considered
  • Experience gained as an Electrical Engineer with a background in Plc's and OEM, SCADA preferred
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment including Food , FMCG process or General Manufacturing
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Trained to an Electrical minimum craft level, ONC, HND Level preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical systems
  • Proficient in SCADA, Siemens   preferred but open to different PLC background
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within a fast paced industry
  • Please note this is a 40 Hours P/W days-based role
  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimun 5 years working ‘hands on’ automation, and knowledge/ experience within automated environments
