My client, a leading company in the injection moulding sector, is seeking an experienced Injection Mould Sector Lead to join their team. In this critical role, you will oversee the performance of the injection moulding operations, ensure the achievement of production targets, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to maintain high quality and efficiency standards.

As the Injection Mould Sector Lead, you will be responsible for driving the team towards operational excellence, fostering a safe and efficient working environment, and ensuring production runs smoothly across all shifts.

Key Responsibilities – Section Leader

  • Lead and manage the injection moulding department to meet production efficiency targets and quality standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety regulations and maintain high departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Oversee execution of the production plan to ensure that efficiency targets and production goals are met.
  • Monitor and maintain production quality to required standards, ensuring products meet specifications.
  • Actively participate in and drive continuous improvement programmes to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures within the department.
  • Foster strong communication across all shifts through daily shift handovers (DSUMs), Daily Shift Reports (DSR), emails, and other channels.
  • Liaise daily with cross-departmental teams (tool room, quality, planning, engineering, maintenance, assembly) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Be fully skilled and knowledgeable in all areas within the Moulding department and lead by example.
  • Provide support and perform production activities within the Moulding department when required.
  • Conduct inspections and measurements in accordance with established procedures.
  • Identify skill gaps within the department and implement training or development plans.
  • Demonstrate a duty of care to all colleagues, visitors, contractors, or anyone else on site.
  • Conduct and report on Process Audits to ensure operational standards are maintained.
  • Undertake any reasonable management requests to support the department’s objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements – Section Leader

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in injection moulding processing.
  • Proven experience in a junior management role within the injection moulding industry.
  • Experience with ERM systems is desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety practices and the ability to enforce compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive efficiency improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage competing priorities.
