Systems Engineer

Location: Redhill

Permanent role

Our client provides I.T solutions and satellite communication services to customers globally.

They are searching for a experienced individual to assist in the system engineering processes within the team.

The team are responsible for a variety of services. This includes:

  • Bespoke hardware and software developments for customers.
  • Designing on-board vessel and land networks for fleets.
  • System design and integration to suit clients- testing, updating and adding into Product Portfolio.
  • Design and management of infrastructure and customer networks.

Experience with site traffic improvement, virtualisation, High Availability, traffic prioritisation, VSAT, Starlink, OneWeb, LTE & PoP infrastructure are beneficial for this role.

Key Responsibilities of a System Engineer:

  • To act as in-house Product expert on selected systems and application, keeping abreast of new developments in the IT & Communications industry
  • To provide accurate and timely technical information or analyses on a variety of engineering investigations.
  • to support the design, requirement capture and development
  • To produce and maintain detailed technical documentation relating to the new solutions/developments a
  • ensuring that any new developments are rolled out effectively across the organization.
  • Where required to support the Product Management team and Account Managers in dealings with customers on engineering issues, attend meetings and conduct demonstrations in support of Sales.
  • To own, investigate and resolve escalated engineering service issues.
  • If required to participate in a DVB Support Engineer shift rota
  • Lead by example to develop and maintain personal technical expertise in company bespoke products and security best practise.

The successful System Engineer would:

  • Degree (2:1) or HND/HNC in IT/Programming/Engineering related area AND/OR at least 3 years equivalent experience
  • A professional and flexible approach Proactive "can do" attitude
  • Ability to diagnose complex faults, document, communicate and follow up corrective actions
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts including Routing, Switching, Firewalling, including Layer 7 firewalls
  • Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL)
