Role - Production Team Leader

Location – Wolverhampton

Salary - £39,123.44

Shifts – 2 days, 2 nights – 4 off

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Procurement Leader to join a globally reaching manufacturing business.

The Production Team Leader is responsible for the management of an operational team to ensure self-sufficiency of that team. They will assist the production manager in the management of their shift team including control, planning, organising and motivating.

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage HSE issues for the plant during the shift ensuring a zero Accident mentality is maintained.
  • Production to Plan (quality, cost, delivery) to meet sales requirements.
  • Schedule and utilise the required labour for achievement of the production plan.
  • Ensure that all labour is allocated in accordance with the competencies signed off on the skills matrix.
  • Identify and facilitate any training needs and be actively involved with people management.
  • Drive business improvement development within the team to ensure effective problem-solving tools are utilised.
  • Use Pareto analysis to regularly identify the top 3 areas for improvement and drive to close out.
  • Achieve business and departmental objectives by best use of resources hour by hour.
  • Identification of all forms of waste reduction.
  • Communicate with your team by utilising the visual management & delivery shift briefs with focus on quality, cost and delivery and gathering ideas for improvement.
  • Undertake performance management and take responsibility for team members, conducting appraisals and giving direction to aid good people performance.
  • Responsible for accurately completing all compliance paperwork, daily shift reports, HR attendance reports or any other documentation or reporting as and when required by the business.
  • Maintaining a consistent production flow ensuring employees are full trained and working efficiently.
  • Responsible for ensuring the shift is if fully staffed, ensuring absences are backfilled.
  • Reporting machine discrepancies and ensuring efficient running of all materials where possible.
  • Detailed reporting will be required for any issues, discrepancies across the shift this may include; people management, stock, machinery etc.

What you will bring to the role:

  • A minimum of 5 years previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment as a Shift Manager or similar supervisory role.
  • Lean manufacturing or production management (Online or Open University)
  • GCSE Grade C and above or equivalent Maths and English.
  • ILM or equivalent certificate in Leadership.
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-growing business and meet tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of health and safety processes and safe methods of working
  • Displays safe and considerate working practices.
  • Fully computer literate and competent using all Microsoft packages including Outlook.
  • Has a can do attitude -Showing a positive professional attitude to everyday challenges.
  • Delivers Results by coordinating activities for efficient service delivery across the teams. Managing and motivating the team and striving for success.
  • Customer Focus – Ensuring the customer expectations and requirements are met.
  • Strong communication skills, you are comfortable communicating at all levels within the business and have the ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders.
